How Does an MIG Welder Operate?
- Welding is the joining together of two separate metal pieces with the use of extremely high heat, produced by an electric current, or arc. MIG (metal inert gas) welders work by feeding wire and gas simultaneously through a welding machine or gun. The wire and gas are fed continuously, because they are consumed continuously by the act of welding. The gas is an inert gas, and is used to protect or shield the area being welded from other gases that are present. The gas displaces the air around the weld. Four types of metal contact or transfer exist: short-circuiting, pulsed-spray, spray and globular.
MIG Welder Components
- The parts that make up a MIG welding unit are the control switch, the power source, the wire feed, the welding torch (or gun), the electrode or wire source and the gas supply. The torch is where all the parts come together for welding. The nozzle houses a gas diffuser and a contact tip, which has an opening that allows the electrode (wire) to move out of the gun. Pieces in the torch nozzle must be able to sustain very high levels of heat during the welding process; therefore the pieces in the nozzle are usually made of molded thermoset plastics, which do not soften.
Operating The MIG Welder
- Voltage, gas and electrode must be chosen for the type of metal being welded. In MIG welders, Argon is usually the gas of choice. By pressing the control switch, the electrode is fed into the machine, and the welding begins. Letting go of the control switch stops the welding. The contact tip inside the nozzle is usually copper, and is connected to the power source. The contact tip guides the electrode to the pieces being welded. Because it is connected to the power source, the contact tip transmits the electrical current to the electrode as it also guides it. The arc is created between the electrode and the metal to be welded. The seam or stream of molten metal is not deposited until the electrode touches the metal.
Metal Transfer Modes
- Each transfer mode requires different electrodes, currents and gases. Globular metal transfer uses carbon dioxide, and is used for flat steel surfaces, and when cost is an issue. Short-circuit metal transfer uses a low current, smaller wire and carbon dioxide, and is used only on ferrous materials, producing a much cleaner weld than the globular transfer. Pulsed spray uses Argon gas with the addition of a low level of carbon dioxide. Larger wire can be used, and the process works on almost all metals. It does, however, require a special power supply that can produce pulsed currents.

How to Weld a Puddle Joint
MIG welding is also referred to as arc welding. MIG stands for Metal Inert Gas. Puddle joints are used to fuse two pieces of metal together when the side or edge can not be welded. Welding puddle joints requires some basic knowledge about MIG welding.
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
Things You’ll Need:
- Drill
- Clamp
- Fill wire
- Shielding glass
- MIG welder
- Gloves
-
1
Clean the area on the two metals where they will meet. If there is paint or a coating on the metal, remove it. Remove all dust.
-
2
Drill holes in the metal piece you are welding on. The holes range in size depending on the use of the metal. A common size for these holes is 5/16cm.
-
3
Clamp the two pieces together so they do not shift. C-clamps or alligator clamps work for most MIG puddle welds.
-
4
Pour fill wire or material into the holes. Each hole needs to have enough fill so when it melts, the fill covers the entire hole.
-
5
Put shielding glass and gloves on. The light from the welder damages your retinas unless you wear protection.
-
6
Angle the MIG welder at 45-degrees. Weld the metal until the fill wire covers all of the edges. You may need to weld, stop and look and then weld again.
-
7
Repeat Step 6 for each hole.

Tips for Arc Welding
Arc welding can be a tricky and difficult task. Arc welding refers to welding that uses a live current of electricity to produce welds. The electricity streams in an arc from an electrode down to a work piece. GMAW welding (gas metal arc welding, or MIG welding) and GTAW welding (gas tungsten arc welding, or TIG welding) are two different types of arc welding. Most methods of welding will use shielding gases to improve weld quality. Aside from using proper shielding gases, there are a number of other steps that welders can take to improve their welding technique.
Shielding Gas
-
Employing the proper shielding gas is a critical step in producing high-quality welds. Shielding gases stream down onto a work piece, surrounding the arc of electricity as it is drawn down to the work piece. This process greatly increases stability of the arc, making precision welding much easier. Shielding gases allow for the creation of smoother welds and help prevent contaminates from compromising welds.
-
Argon gas is the most widely used shielding gas in most methods of welding. A shielding gas consisting of argon and carbon dioxide is ideal for working on thicker-gauged steel. While working on thinner steel, a combination of 75 percent argon, 25 percent carbon dioxide shielding gas is ideal. Argon with helium shielding gases work well while welding on aluminium. An argon, helium and carbon dioxide combination will work well on stainless steel.
Proper Ground
- Having a welding system properly grounded is a critical step in ensuring streams of electricity will be steady and go uninterrupted. An improperly grounded system can make it more difficult to provide a starting voltage to the welding system. While copper is one of the more efficient electric conductors, most modern-day grounding clamps are made out of plated steel. These steel grounding clamps have a small amount of copper at the contact point. Employing an all-copper grounding clamp makes it easier to create a starting voltage.

Welding is, in short, an art form. There are many different types of welding requiring different skill levels. Most beginners work with Mig welding or Arc welding, which are both relatively easy to work with. Tig welding, on the other hand, is a much more elegant style of welding that produces better welds and allows you to weld aluminium easier than other methods of welding. Tig welding should be left to the professionals who have the skills and resources necessary to purchase a Tig welder, which can cost thousands of Rands.
- The Mig in Mig welding is short for Metal Inert Gas. The gas is typically carbon dioxide or a combination of carbon dioxide and argon. The shielding gas is used to protect the area being welded from atmospheric gases, which if they came in contact with the weld area, would decrease the quality of the weld considerably. Mig welders work by automatically feeding an electrode at the press of a button shielded by the shielding gas. This is one of the easiest types of welding to learn and is perfect for beginners.
Tig Welding
- Tig welding is the type of welding professionals use, because it creates high-quality welds and has the ability to weld metals like aluminium and copper. Tig stands for tungsten inert gas. The tungsten is used in Tig welding to heat the welding area to join the two pieces of metal with or without a filler rod. The main difference between Tig welding and other types of welding is that Tig welding uses a tungsten electrode to heat the welding joint. Tungsten is nonconsumable, meaning that it doesn’t melt and become part of the welding joint like other types of welding. All you are doing with Tig welding is heating the welding joint with the tungsten. The drawback to Tig welding is the cost associated with obtaining a high-quality welder.
Arc Welding
- Arc welding, or what is referred to as stick welding, is popular due to its simplicity. Arc welding, unlike Mig and Tig welding, does not require a shielding gas, because as the electrode’s coating disintegrates, it gives off vapours that work like a shielding gas. This is beneficial for DIY work and for many companies, because it keeps costs low, as shielding gas is relatively expensive. All that is involved in Arc welding is an electrode that makes contact with the welding joint and fuses with the two pieces of metal. The Arc welder is simple, effective, and cheap.

Far infrared Portable saunas are becoming more and more popular in South Africa. Should you want more information call 021 5567203 or click more information
Far Infrared Sauna
Conventional Sauna
Far Infrared Sauna: Simply plugs into a 13amp mains socket
Conventional Sauna: Needs to be wired up with 180 degree heat resistant cabling for the lights and stove.
Far Infrared Sauna: Heated to a range of 110° to 130°F. Leaving the air comfortable to breathe.
Conventional Sauna: Heated to a range of 180° to 235°F. The air can become uncomfortable to breathe.
Far Infrared Sauna: Warm up period of 10 to 15 minutes. Means a far infrared sauna can be used whenever you like and the cost of heating up is much less than a conventional sauna.
Conventional Sauna: Warm up period of between 30 and 90 minutes. Means that you have to plan when to use the sauna. Costly initial warm-up
Far Infrared Sauna: Approx 20% of the far infrared energy heats the air the remainder heats the person. Means a much lower running cost than a conventional sauna.
Conventional Sauna: Heats the air first and the air heats the person. So not as effective at heating the person. Higher running cost than the far infrared sauna.
Far Infrared Sauna: You produce 2-3 times the volume of sweat of a conventional sauna. Means better detoxification as more toxins can be driven out through the extra volume.
Conventional Sauna: ½ to 1/3 volume of sweat of a far infrared sauna.
Far Infrared Sauna: No water is needed to create steam or to cool you down. So Less likelihood of mould growing in your house due to the sauna humidity.
Conventional Sauna: Steam and water vapour in the air bring increased risk of mould growth. Mould creates its own toxins.
Far Infrared Sauna: Heat goes deeper which gives a beneficial cardiovascular workout as well as providing detoxification.
Conventional Sauna: Heat is on the surface of the skin – no cardiovascular workout
You Can Benefit From Using an Infrared Sauna Too
Far infrared saunas can even be used by heart patients. Obviously having checked with their doctors first!
The reason?
It`s because the high air temperatures of a conventional sauna is likely to be uncomfortable for heart patients. The lower temperatures in a far infrared sauna make it a much more pleasant experience.
The Japanese are keen users of far infrared saunas and they have done vast amounts of research to check its safety and its use in promoting health and healing.
Far Infrared Studies (Clinical Research Cases)
In the first clinical study by the First Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Kagoshima University , Kagoshima , Japan Nanpuh Hospital, Kagoshima , Japan reported that repeated 60°C sauna treatment improves clinical symptoms in patients with chronic heart failure.
A further clinical study reported in Journal of the American College of Cardiology (2002; 39:754-759) concluded that repeated far infrared sauna treatment improves vascular endothelial function, resulting in an improvement in cardiac function and clinical symptoms.

Excerpts from international reports and published accounts of the health benefits attributed to Infrared Rays.
During the past 25 years researchers and clinicians in Japan and China have carried out extensive research of IR ray treatments and some findings may be seen as provocative. In Japan the Far Infrared Society` among whose members are medical doctors and physiotherapists, was established to further research and to support the health benefits obtained from IR treatment as a healing method.
Over 700.000 IR thermal systems has been sold in Asia for whole-body` treatments, and a further estimated 30 million people have received localized IR treatment in Europe, Australia and New Zealand using lamps tuned to the same waveband as employed in the whole-body thermal system such as the unique portable FIR Sauna.
About weight control:
[From Dr. Arthur C. Guyton`s textbook of Medical Physiology] To produce 1 gram of perspiration requires 0.568kcal.`
[From the Journal of American Medical Association: JAMA]: A moderately conditioned person can easily sweat off 500 grams in a sauna, consuming nearly 300kcal., which is equivalent to running 2 to 3 miles. While the weight of the water loss can be regained by drinking water, the calories consumed will not be.`
Since an IR sauna helps to generate 2 to 3 times the perspiration produced in a hot-air/steam sauna, the implications for increased caloric consumption are quite impressive. Assuming a sauna as mentioned in the JAMA to last for 30 minutes, then some interesting comparisons may be drawn.
Two of the highest calorie consuming forms of exercises are Rowing and Marathon running. The Peak output on a rowing machine or during marathon runs burn about 600 calories in 30 minutes. The FIR Sauna may enhance the loss by burning about 900 to 2400 calories in a 30-minute session (in other words up to as much as 250% more). Or consume energy equal to that expended in 6 to 9 mile run.
For those who do not exercise or who cannot exercise this is a very valuable and effective way to achieve weight control, or maintain a fitness programme and the benefits of a regular exercise.
This may also apply to the elderly, or those who are otherwise unable to exert themselves to achieve a cardiovascular training effect.
Many of us who run do so to place a demand on our cardiovascular system, not to build big leg muscles. Regular use of a sauna may impact a similar stress on the cardiovascular system, and its regular use may be as effective, as a means of cardiovascular conditioning and burning of calories, as regular exercise. – Journal of the American Medical Association 8/7/81.
Owing to the deep penetration, between 4 ~ 5 cm into the skin, of the infrared rays generated by the Infrared Thermal System, there is a heating effect deep in the muscular tissues and the internal organs. This beneficial heart stress leads to a sought-after cardiovascular training and conditioning effect. Medical researches confirm the use of a sauna provides cardiovascular conditioning as the body works to cool itself and involves substantial increases in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate. As a confirmation of the validity of this form of cardiovascular conditioning, extensive research by NASA in the early 1980’s led to the conclusion that infrared stimulation of cardiovascular function would be the ideal way to maintain cardiovascular conditioning in American astronauts during long space flights.
In the 1980s it was the decade of aerobics classes and high-mileage training. Such strictures insured that most real exercisers were youths and in good shape to begin with. Many Americans got caught up in the fitness boom, but probably just as many fell by the wayside. As we’ve reported, recent research shows that you don`t have to run marathons to become fit – that burning just 1,000 calories a week is enough. Anything goes, as long as it burns these calories. – Wellness Letter, 10/90, University of California, Berkeley.
It should be mentioned here that as our bodies are made of cells of which the water in it is most important. FIR vibrating at a frequency mentioned before is able to activate the cells. This in turn regulates the blood flow and blood vessels which may have been blocked due to cells being trapped by plasma blood proteins – (trapped plasma blood proteins explained in the Medical Textbook on Physiology by Dr. Arthur C Guyton).
About therapeutic effects: According to Professor Zhang Jian Dong the human body and bodies of animals as well soil and minerals are able to give off FIR rays under specific conditions. A knowledge known to many Chinese Qi-Gong masters who use their own body emissions of FIR rays to ease ailments of others.
The intensity of emission vary with health so that the human body become less able to defend against attacks by ailments and diseases as health status declines, and may accelerate as one’s state of health is reduced. When we reach a terminal condition (death) the FIR radiation will also be close to zero.
For that reason the human body needs a continuous supply of FIR radiation from Mother Nature to boost the powers of FIR rays in our bodies. Sunlight exposure makes us feel healthier owing to the Natural Energy contained in the segment of the spectrum of light that is Far Infrared rays.
It is important to note that FIR in the FAR Infrared segment [6-14 microns] is the right wavelength needed by the human body to activate various biological functions without any harmful effects. To the contrary these rays strengthen the body and help prevent disease. Another effect is the therapeutic effect on the body, increasing the body’s resistance and rendering it capable of assisting in the treatment of various ailments thus reducing suffering and accelerating recuperation.
Doctors in various hospitals use FIR as a form of physiotherapy and FIR is a therapy based on maintaining good health.
To be a bit more specific the generally accepted therapeutics effects resulting from the heat of the FIR rays include:
1. Increases in the extensibility of collagen tissues.
Tissues heated to 45°C and then stretched exhibit a non-elastic residual elongation of about 0.5 to 0.9% that persists after the stretch is removed. It does not occur in these same tissues when stretched at normal tissue temperatures. Thus 20 stretching sessions can produce around a 10 to 18% increase in length in tissues heated and stretched. This effect would be especially valuable in working with ligaments, joint capsules, tendons and fascia.
The cited experiment clearly shows that low-impact stretching can produce a significant residual elongation when heat is applied together with stretching or range-of-motion exercises, which is also safer than stretching tissues at normal tissue temperatures.
This safer stretching effect is crucial in properly training competitive athletes so as to minimize their down- time from injuries.
2. A decreases of joint stiffness directly.
There was a 20% decrease in stiffness at 45°C as compared with 33°C in rheumatoid finger joints, which correlated perfectly to both subjective and objective observation of stiffness.
Any stiffened joint and thickened connective tissues should respond in a similar fashion.
3. Relief of muscle spasms.
Muscle spasms have long been observed to be reduced through the use of heat, be they secondary to underlying skeletal, joint, or neuro-pathological conditions.
This result is possibly produced by the combined effect of heat on both primary and secondary afferent from spindle cells and from its effects on Gogli tendon organs. The effects produced by each of these mechanisms demonstrated their peak effect within the therapeutic temperature range obtainable with radiant heat.
4. Pain relief.
Pain may be relieved via the reduction of attendant or secondary muscle spasms. Pain is also at times related to tension or spasm, which can be improved by the hyperaemia that heat-induced vasodilatation produces. Heat has been shown to reduce pain sensation by direct action on both free-nerve endings in tissues and on peripheral nerves. In one dental study, repeated heat applications eventually led to abolishment of the whole nerve response responsible for pain arising from dental pulp.
5. Increase of blood flow.
Heating of one area of the body produces reflex-modulated vasodilatation in distant-body areas, even in the absence of a change in core body temperature; i.e. heat one extremity and the contra lateral extremity also dilates; heat a forearm and both lower extremities dilate; heat the front of the trunk and the hand dilates. Heating of muscles produces an increased blood flow level similar to that seen during an exercise.
Temperature elevation produces an increase in blood flow and dilation directly in capillaries, arterioles, and venous, probably through direct action on their smooth muscles.
6. Assists in resolution of inflammatory infiltrates, oedema and exudes.
The increased peripheral circulation provides the transportation needed to help evacuate the oedema, which can help stop inflammation, decrease pain and help speed healing.
7. More recently, it has been used in cancer therapy.
This is a new and experimental procedure. It shows great promise in some cases, when used properly.
American researchers favour careful monitoring of the tumour temperature; whereas the successes reported in Japan make no mention of such precaution.
Cancer Pain: relieved pain in later stages of cancer extremely well.
8. Burns relief.
Relieves pain and decreases healing time, with less scarring.
9. High Blood Pressure
Reported safe in 40 to 50? degrees Celsius range and regular use helps to lower hypertension. A Case of a diabetic is reported with a systolic decrease from 180 to 125, and a concurrent 10 lbs. weight loss after infrared treatment.
10. Low Blood Pressure
Regular FIR Sauna use assists the body to raise blood pressure to normal levels.
11. Short-term memory
Use is reported to improve short-term memory retention.
12. Cerebral Haemorrhages
Recovery appears to be both sped up and significantly enhanced.
13. Auto Accident: related soft tissue injury
Daily sessions with FIR treatment were used until best healing was attained; then Infrared systems were used to deal with permanent residuals. The pain control effect on the chronic residuals from such injuries lasted three days before another treatment was necessary.
Infrared healing is now becoming the leading edge in the care of soft tissue injuries to promote both relief in chronic or intractable permanent cases, and accelerated healing in newer injuries.
14. Arthritis, acute and chronic
Both are reported to be greatly relieved.
15. Gouty Arthritis:
Similar relief reported.
16. Rheumatoid Arthritis:
FIR treatment successfully relieved discomfort.
A Swedish case study reports on the case of a 70-year-old man with Rheumatoid Arthritis secondary to acute rheumatic fever. He had reached his toxic limit on Gold injections and his Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate was still at 125. Within 5 months of undergoing an infrared treatment, his ESR was down to only 11.
In another case of rheumatic arthritis, that of a 14-year old Swedish girl who couldn`t walk comfortably downstairs due to knee pain since the age of eight year old, her Rheumatologist told her mother that her child would be in a wheelchair within 2 years if she refused gold corticosteroid therapy. However, after 3 infrared sauna treatments, she became more agile, and subsequently took up folk dancing, without the aid of the conventional approach in her recovery.
A clinical trial in Japan reported the successful solution in seven out of seven cases of Rheumatoid Arthritis treated with whole-body infrared therapy. These case studies and clinical trials indicate that further study is warranted on the usage of whole-body infrared therapy in the care of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
17. Menopause Symptoms
Treatment relieved chills, nervousness, depression, dizziness, head and stomach aches.
18. Weight Loss
As previously discussed the initial loss occurred through perspiration and the energy use needed to produce the perspiration. Secondly, weight reduction occurred through direct excretion of fat.
19. Radiation Sickness
Relieved signs and symptoms.
BLOOD CIRCULATION
All of the following ailments may be associated to some degree with poor circulation and, thus, may respond well to the increased peripheral dilation associated with Infrared application: Arthritis, Sciatica, Backaches, Haemorrhoids, Nervous Tension, Diabetes, Varicose Veins, Children`s Over-tired Muscles, Neuritis, Rheumatism, Strained Muscles, Upset Stomachs, Fatigue, Stretch Marks, Menstrual Cramps and Ulcers [failed to heal using conventional approaches].
Post-Operative Oedema: treatment with infrared has been so successful that hospital stays were reported to have been reduced by 25%.
MUSCULOSKELETAL CASES
From Japan researchers report success with infrared treatments:
Medical practitioners make use of Infrared Radiant Heat to treat sprains, strains, bursitis, peripheral vascular diseases, arthritis and muscle pain – McGraw/Hill Encyclopaedia of Science and Technology, Dr. Masao Nakamura of the O & P.
A Medical Clinic in Japan has reported great success with the use of infrared treatment for Whiplash, Sciatica, Menopause, Arthritis, Shoulder Stiffness, Rheumatism, Acne, Gastro enteric Problem, Ear Diseases and Insomnia, Muscle Spasms and Tension, Lower Back Pain, trauma and repetitive stress syndromes, Post-exercise Muscle Pain, Gouty, Rheumatoid ailments, and the list goes on.
CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE, ARTERIOSCLEROSIS AND HYPERTENSION
Finnish researchers, talking about the regular use of conventional saunas state that there are abundant evidences to suggest that blood vessels of regular sauna users remain elastic and pliable longer due to the regular dilation and contraction of blood vessels induced by sauna use.
German medical researchers reported in Dermatol Monats schr,? in 1989 that a group of hypertension patients was studied under the identical conditions of infrared-induced hypothermia, with an eye toward more carefully evaluating the circulatory system effects induced by this type of whole-body heating. During each infrared session, there was a significant decrease of blood pressure, cardiac ejection resistance, and total peripheral resistance in every subject.
There was also a significant increase during each session of the subjects` heart rates, stroke volumes, cardiac outputs and ejection fractions. The researchers cite these last three effects as evidences that the stimulation of the heart during infrared-induced hypothermia is well compensated, while the prior list of effects clearly show the micro-circulatory changes that lead to the desired result of a lowering of blood pressure.
AGEING
Problems often accompanying Ageing have been reported to be reduced by Infrared Therapy in Japan including Menopause and Cold hands and feet. A physiotherapist reported 20 to 50% improvement was maintained.
1. Rheumatoid Arthritis
7 out of 7 cases successfully resolved in one clinical trial.

Sore throats: chronic severe case cleared with 10 Infrared treatments.
SKIN
Conditions benefited by Infrared treatments in Japan and China:
1. Nettle rash
Clogged pores are unplugged of cosmetics creating a skin texture and tone of unexcelled quality.
2. Michael Aaland’s book:Sweat` (Capra Press, 1978) quotes a Finnish doctor to the effect that: ‘As a result of the sauna, the skin of any Finnish worker is supple and healthy. Poor skin tone is restored to a more youthful level. Scars and pain from burns or wounds are decreased in severity and extent.’
Infrared therapy is also used routinely in burn units throughout Asia.
3. Lacerations
Heal quicker and with less pain and scarring.
4. Acne
Three or four infrared treatments may open pores that have not been functioning in years, forcing out clogging cosmetics and loosening dead outer skin. The sauna is thus a boon to teenage skin, clearing acne and blackheads.
5. Body odour
By improving the function of the skin, the infrared treatments may eliminate the cause of offensive body odour. It definitely reduces body odour induced by occupational exposure to odorous chemicals.
6. Eczema and Psoriasis
Reported to have responded extremely well to infrared treatments
7. Sunburn
According to the 9th edition of Clayton’s Electrotherapy: infrared is the only antidote to excessive ultraviolet radiation.
PROSTATE GLAND SWELLING
It is common for men to suffer from a swollen Prostate Gland, especially in men in their forties and above. It has become an inconvenience to them and common symptoms include weakness and difficulty in the excretion of urine, nutria and in serious cases, inability to urinate. At the same time, it may lead to a decline in sexual functions.
Those who suffer from inflammation or swelling of the Prostate Gland may also suffer from cancer of the Prostate Gland, one of the common killers of men.
The prostate gland is the organ responsible for the production of male hormones and sperm and is very important to men. When the swollen Prostate Gland presses against the urethra, various symptoms of difficulty in urination will occur.
The use of FIR can provide therapeutic effects.
Disclaimer/Contraindications
As may be noted the segment of the infrared spectrum emitted by the Infrared Thermal System is reputed to offer an astounding range of possible therapeutic benefits and effects in research conducted around the world. The data presented is offered for reference purposes only and to stimulate further observation. Infrared Thermal Systems creating a cure for, or treating of, any disease is neither implied nor should be inferred.
If you are suffering from a disease be certain to consult with a primary-care physician concerning it.

Cure gout pain with the far infrared sauna
Posted on | April 14, 2010 | No Comments
Will Far infrared saunas cure Gout Pain?
What is Gout?
Gout is a systemic disease caused by the build-up of uric acid in the joints, causing inflammation, swelling, and pain. This condition can develop for two reasons. The liver may produce more uric acid than the body can excrete in the urine, or a diet of rich foods (e.g., red meat, cream sauces, red wine) puts more uric acid into the bloodstream than the kidneys can filter. In both cases, a condition called hyperuricemia results. Over time, the uric acid crystallizes and settles in the joint spaces, most commonly in the first metatarsal phalangeal joint of the big toe or in the ankle joint.
Signs and Symptoms:
- Inflammation.
- Swelling.
- Tenderness in the joint of the first toe.
- Touching or moving the joint is intensely painful.
- Patients often say it hurts to have as much as a bed sheet over the toe.
- Gout develops quickly
- Typically occurs in only one joint at a time.
- May develop in two or three joints simultaneously, but this is rare.
If widespread symptoms occur, the condition is probably not gout.
Diagnosis
The most reliable way to diagnose gout is to examine the joint fluid for uric acid crystals. This is done by drawing fluid from the joint with a needle and examining it under a polarized light microscope. Although the test is invasive, the results are definitive, and a positive result facilitates proper treatment and quick relief.
——————————————————————————–
Treatment
Treatment for gout involves decreasing the amount of uric acid in the joint. If dietary habits are the cause, the patient`s lifestyle must be changed to avoid the condition. We recommend using the safe far infrared natural healing method. For long term results we suggest monitoring your dietary habits and using Far Infrared Socks and clothing.
——————————————————————————–
Prevention
Alcohol and rich foods are primary contributors to excessive uric acid levels. Although some patients have a genetic predisposition to excessive uric acid production, most gout patients have normal kidneys and uncontrolled dietary habits. Prevention is the best defense against the disease.
Many patients who suffer from gout continue to indulge, and suffer frequent painful attacks as a result. The continued accumulation of uric acid in the joints eventually damages them, seriously inhibiting movement. Although traditional medication makes it possible to live with gout, the Far infrared sauna will actually help to break down the Uric Acid Crystals and reduce the acidity levels in the blood.

Complications of Gout?
Where high uric acid has been present for a long time and acute gout has been frequent and severe, deposits of uric acid salts may appear around the affected joint and even in tissues elsewhere such as the ears. These are seen as chalk colored nodules called tophi. Their presence indicates the need for treatment with one or other of the long term uric acid lowering drugs.
High uric acid levels and recurrent gout are often associated with high blood pressure which your doctor will check and treat as necessary. This combination of hyperuricemia and high blood pressure can lead to kidney damage so it is all the more important, not just because of the effects on the joints, to correct this state of affairs through the proper use of all the measures mentioned above under your doctor`s supervision.

Who Gets Gout ?
Men aged 40 to 50 are most commonly affected though women have been diagnosed too.
Gout is common in those with obesity, hypertension, hyper lipidemia and diabetes.

Reflex Sympathetic Discharge (RSD) or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) Reversed Quickly
Dr. Wilson,
In case you don`t remember me I am the person who sent you an e-mail on January 4th regarding RSD. In September I broke my wrist and that followed with two surgeries, as a result I acquired RSD.
I read your article on line regarding the nervous system and was quite impressed so I sent you an e-mail asking advice. I believe at the time I told you that I was in so much pain and so depressed that I was at a loss for what to do.
Almost immediately I received an e-mail from you suggesting the red infrared lamp therapy. I am telling you that you were my angel that day! I followed you suggestion and today I am feeling as good if not better than before the accident.
In the beginning I used the lamp around 4 or 5 times a day for 7 or 8 minutes but as I began to get relief I cut down on the times per day but not the minutes. I think it took about a week before I really realized it was beginning to work.
Thanks,
Sue M.
Chronic Sinus Infection Reversed
Received 4/10/07
Dear Dr. Wilson,
I have suffered from inflamed sinuses for about 40 years. They inhibit my ability to breathe. Also, the sinuses drip day and night and this condition nearly killed my sense of smell. My face was also permanently swollen in the area of the sinuses.
I built an infrared lamp sauna three months ago and have been using it once daily for about 35 minutes ever since.
My body seems to be changing since I have started using the sauna, and I have had several instances where I see auras or halos in my eyes, after a session has ended, triggered by bright light.
I had a major healing crisis that lasted for about 48 hours about one month ago. My sinuses, cheeks, face and gums swelled up and drained profusely. When the crisis cleared, I was able to breath and smell things normally for the first time in memory!
I had a slight reversal about ten days later, but I am still better than before I started using the sauna. My face is no longer swollen and the sinuses do not drip any more at night. My sense of smell is only partially there. You have recommended longer sauna sessions of 45 minutes, and/or having two sauna sessions daily. I will let you know how this affects the sinuses.

Improved Joints
Thank you for the time spent on the phone with me. Because of you and sauna therapy, my wife Joyce, who had been having severe joint pain, is much more comfortable.
Before using lamp sauna as a treatment her joint pain was crippling, especially at night and this also affected her sleep. We tried doctors but nothing helped.
It has been 2 months and with consistent sauna sessions and correct diet I see her condition only getting better. She still gets pains but not as frequent and not as severe.

COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) reversed in an 82-year-old.
Received March 9, 2007
I am 82 years old and until recently had COPD to where my oxygen reading on the finger was 84, my lungs were very raspy and I would wheeze when walking. I had been on oxygen for three years with no apparent benefit from the oxygen. I used a CPAP with oxygen at night and a nebulizer four times a day. There was no benefit that could I see.
A year ago I bought an infrared lamp sauna from Dr. Wilson. I used it for a time last summer without its cover to condense the heat. It provided some help.
Then two and a half months ago I covered the frame and started using the sauna three times a day. I heat the sauna to 120 degrees and I stay inside for 30 to 45 minutes.
After a week of doing this, I began to sweat, first on my back and then the head, neck, underarms, and now my upper torso also sweats a lot. I drink 3 quarts of water daily with 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt per day (table salt will kill you).
I went to the doctor today. My lungs were normal with no wheezing. The oximiter on the finger read 96, although I had been off oxygen for 6 hours.
I still use need the CPAP and oxygen at night, and use a nebulizer several times a day. I am continuing to use the sauna and there is no question this sauna has decreased my COPD a lot.

Edema Improved
Received June 14, 2007
My father started his 15 minute sauna on June 1, 2007, only two weeks ago. He has dropped 21 pounds of edema since then, (yes very short) and along with his Rife therapy, he is feeling amazing.
Thanks again, he is 87.

Chronic Fatigue Reversed
July 6, 2007
I have been doing the sauna therapy protocol daily for 12 weeks now (6 weeks with the near infrared lamps installed), and have seen amazing results in such a short period of time. I am 42 years old, and developed chronic fatigue syndrome almost 30 years ago after several illnesses in my childhood and adolescent years.
For decades now, I have been suffering with it. I`ve tried every alternative, nutritional, medical and lifestyle approach I could find, and generally got it to a manageable level, but it always was an ever present factor in my life that worsened over time.
Prior to the sauna therapy, a good month for me typically had five good days and twenty-five bad days. Now, I`m thrilled to report it`s just the opposite. A typical month for me now has five bad days and twenty-five good days!!! I finally see a future without chronic fatigue, and plan to make the sauna protocol part of my health routine for life. Thank you!

The FIR sauna experience | Far infrared saunas
Posted on | April 14, 2010 | No Comments
The Sauna Experience.
Saunas are safe for most people providing one follows a few simple rules. Remain inside no longer than 30 minutes at a time. Resting after your sauna treatment is important, lying or sitting for 10 minutes afterwards should be part of your far infrared sauna routine. This allows time to eliminate dead cells and other debris. Drink mineralized water before and after the sauna. Make sure the bowels move regularly, as sauna therapy will increase elimination.Use the FIR sauna with supervision if you have a chronic condition. If debilitated or very heat-sensitive, begin with a shorter time. The presence of an attendant or friend is also most helpful. Those with multiple sclerosis, hyperthyroidism, hypertension or serious heart conditions should consult a health professional.
People with slow metabolisms may use the fir sauna up to twice a day. Upon arising and at bedtime are excellent if time permits. Evening is probably best if you use it once a day. If ill, however, the morning is better when energy levels are higher. Less often is also acceptable if beginning or to maintain your health. If you are much debilitated, begin with once a week. Work up to daily usage depending on how you feel. People with fast metabolisms should use the infrared sauna once or twice a week.
Drink two glasses of mineralized water before entering the sauna. Add juice or minerals to your water if it is mineral-free. The far infrared sauna will not work through clothing. Men, position yourselves so the testicles are not directly exposed to infrared energy. Pass the time meditating or review your day.
Use a small sauna towel to wipe off the sweat. Not recommended talking or working in the infra-red sauna.
When finished, take a shower, warm or cool but not hot. Avoid using soap as you will be clean. Soap leaves a film and clogs the pores. Wash off the sweat with a skin brush or loofa. Brush all over, even face and hair. Painful at first, it soon feels wonderful. Brushing enhances the cleansing effect. Shampoo and conditioner use only if needed. Most contain chemicals toxic to the body. Also skip most lotions and creams. These also contain harmful chemicals.
After the sauna drink a glass of water. Sit or lie down for at least 10 minutes. These simple steps allow your body to reap the full benefit of the sauna experience. As you become healthier, you will sweat more easily. Also, to heat up the sauna will take longer. The body dissipates heat more efficiently and fewer cellular toxins are there to be removed
Far infrared saunas have been shown to provide significant stress reduction as well as to assist in weight loss, pain management and detoxification. They can also provide relief for people suffering from arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and certain skin conditions. Far infrared sauna therapy penetrates deeply into muscles and joints increasing circulation and helping speed the flow of oxygen through your entire body.
Over the last 25 years, Japanese and Chinese researchers and clinicians have done extensive research on infrared treatments and reported many provocative findings. In Japan there is an Infrared Society, composed of medical doctors and physical therapists, to further research and support the health benefits of infrared as a healing method. There have been over 700,000 infrared Saunas sold in the Orient for whole-body treatments, and an additional 30 million people have received localized infrared treatment in the Orient, Europe and Australia with lamps tuned to the same 2 ~ 25 micron waveband as employed in these whole-body SaunaTech Saunas. Whole-body infrared therapy has been used for over 80 years by German physicians in an independently developed form.
